Aside from the look, feel, and music (both score & soundtrack), the real driving force of ‘The Stand’ is its fully loaded cast of great actors. Personally, the overall 90s vibe cheesiness helps add to the scope and also helps lighten the mood from some of the adaptation’s more gruesome moments that the creators were actually able to get away with. Yeah, this may look dated to most of you. Evil storyline and expands on it with likable characters and biblical references, but the 1994 adaptation does its absolute best to capture the spirit and dread of the original book despite its “Made-For-Television” budget and restrictions. Horror? Mystery? Action? Romance? War? Fantasy? A Post-Apocalptic setting? How about ALL OF THE ABOVE? Not only does King take the typical Good vs. The day the tight-suits in Hollywood finally decide to make that big-buget, two-part movie, they’re gonna have to work extra hard to surpass this 1994 miniseries. One of Stephen King’s massive epics, a beautifully-crafted story that was once considered “unfilmable” due to the story’s length and scope.
